FAQ'sWhen will my music be performed?
If your music is selected, it will be performed in early July 2021 at a concert presented by the Waitakere Voices Choir. If your music is not selected this time, we may still want to sing your music, but perhaps later in the year at a different concert. Is this a competition? No - this isn't a competition; there are no prizes other than the very real possibility of your music being performed. How much does it cost to enter? Nothing at all - it's totally free. The only catch is that if you do enter and your music is performed, we do expect you to be at the concert 🙃. Is there an age restriction? No. If you are in school, fantastic! If you're doing NCEA there's a chance we may be able to use your composition for NCEA music credits. If you're at uni - great: we would love to hear from you. If you're an adult composer or are more experienced - please do submit a score: we would love to sing your music. What sort of pieces are more likely to be chosen?

The Power of WordsPlease ensure your words are out of copyright, or that you have permission to set your chosen text to music.
If you write your own words this isn't a problem, but if you use words that somebody else has written make sure that you have permission to use their words in your piece. A quick note on language: as WV is a community choir consisting primarily of untrained singers we would prefer English or Te Reo Māori to be the primary language of your music. However, the following languages are okay too:
