Keen to sing?
We rehearse every Tuesday evening between February and early December
7:15-9:15pm, at Elim School (previously Laidlaw College), 80 Central Park Drive, accessible via Clemway Place
We're always looking for singers of any skill level and ability to join our ranks.
Currently we're a choir of about 30 singers - a goal over the next few years is to include more people from the community and eventually reach a membership level of 50-60.

Skill
As a community choir, we welcome everybody from all walks of life. If you have had lessons, fantastic - we'd love to have you along! If you haven't sung before (or for a long time), you're more than welcome to attend: there is a bit of a learning curve, but ultimately you'll find it to be highly fulfilling and enjoyable.
The choir isn't auditioned - we're pretty casual - so any level of ability works for us! |
Age
Anybody from high school and up is welcome! Our youngest members are in their teens, while our oldest is going strong in his mid-80's.

Why join a choir?
- There's a sense of community - we're all working together to make music: you're sharing the experience with others.
- You meet other people who you would never otherwise have had the chance to.
- Your brain gets a workout! Multitasking, listening, reading are important for singing.
- Motor functions, aural, visual, and kinaesthetic senses are all integral to making music - every part of the brain is used.
- It's a break! Many people have said that choir is the highlight of their week! It's a chance to socialise and make music away from the stresses and worries of work and family.
- It's so good for your voice! The skills learned while singing are ones you can apply to speaking, whether in small groups or presenting - learning healthy vocal habits are just a part of singing.
InformationStill keen? Come check us out, see if WV is for you!
The group is pretty informal and the process is pretty straightforward - there are two ways to check us out, below:
This goes toward things like hiring our hall on Tuesdays, buying music, and paying for concert hall hire and other expenses. |

sing
This is pretty obvious - being in a choir, it's all about singing! If you're new to the whole thing, or you've been singing for a while, or if you sing in the shower and want to do a bit more (talking about singing here - not showering, although that's okay too), you're welcome to WV.

have a go
There's absolutely no obligation to stay if you reckon that actually, a choir isn't your thing. We do ask though, that you give it a go for a few weeks before making up your mind.
There's a steep learning curve at first, but once the initial bit is over, choral singing can be immensely satisfying. |
inspire
Meet people from all walks of life, from across the West Auckland community - choral singing is a team sport, and getting to know your team is always great fun.
